Is There An Avocado Drought?

June 30, 2005

My favorite grocer priced avocados at $1.49 for one. First pomegranate juice, now avocados. When will the madness end?

Currently I am planning to make a cake for my co-worker’s birthday. I’m thinking of a Genoise cake with Italian buttercreme with (common or key) lime curd. Or perhaps a pound cake cut into layers. I prefer creamed cakes over sponge, but it’s not my birthday. My boss said he will pay me. I’ll post pictures when I make it.

I’m going back to the gym on Friday. It’s not bad yet, but the Retail Production class’ snacking is getting to me. Capt. Snack makes fun of me and says I have an eating disorder. How can you be a pastry arts student with an eating disorder???

I read the first draft from the Company’s interview. I sound like a Stepford Wife. Very amusing spin on my original words. The interviewer’s response to my going back to school was “We don’t want anyone to think you are planning to leave.” What is this Cold War East Berlin? I’m hopping that wall as soon as possible.

A friend of mine told me that one of the best places to get avocados is Chinatown. Another good place is Reading Terminal Market.

    Hope this helps!
